Creative Sequencing

Have you struggled with creating sequences that you are passionate about? Is it hit or miss when trying to come up with new sequences for your yoga classes? If you answered yes to either of these questions then this Creative Sequencing workshop is for you.

Creative Sequencing is a three part investment in strengthening your ability to hold the Seat of the Teacher in a way that both resonates with the spirits of your students and feeds your soul as a yoga teacher. It is time to take the energy of your classes to a higher vibration with creativity and intention. You can spark a light within your students and help them illuminate the inner parts of the heart with the energy that is cultivated by your sequencing. Take this workshop and give your students the excitement that will come from your inner creative! As a dancer, choreographer, yogi, stepper and lover of all things movement, Asia Vianna is the one to help you dive deeper into the creative mover within you! Sequencing is to yoga as choreography is to dance as songwriting is to music!

This training is 10 Continuing Education Credits.

Course Objectives

  • Gain an understanding of the poses that you typically teach and explore how you usually sequence them.

  • Through improvisation and introspection, determine what elements you would like to add to your sequencing repertoire.

  • Learn or get a refresher on the questions to ask yourself, as you develop a new sequence.

  • Understand that approaching sequencing through your own creative lens will impact your ability to remain fresh and present in your teaching practice.

  • Create at least one new sequence that you can take with you into your next class.

Teaching Trauma-Sensitive Yoga

Have you found yourself being turned off by the commanding and demanding nature of some yoga classes? Are you searching for a way to make your yoga offerings more trauma sensitive? Do you need support in understanding why yoga is divinely aligned to support those recovering from traumatic experiences?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Teaching Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is the training for you!

The purpose of teaching yoga in a trauma-sensitive manner is to help students tune into what their bodies are telling them, while holding space for them to clear the chitta vritti that may be impending their practice. Yoga is ideal for holding space for those dealing with trauma as it helps to improve self-regulation and strengthens the connection between the mind and the body. Through the intentional use of asana, pranayama and pratyahara students can cultivate curiosity and mindfulness. Teaching Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is a ten hour investment in strengthening your ability to teach in a trauma-sensitive manner. This training will help you learn to do this intentionally, while increasing your level of comfortability and confidence in holding a space, trauma-sensitive space for your students.

This training is 10 Continuing Education Credits.

Course Objectives

  • Acknowledge what you currently know about trauma, how it affects people and how yoga can be a useful tool.

  • Delineate between what teaching manners are trauma-sensitive and which are not.

  • Learn strategies on how to sequence and format a trauma-sensitive yoga class.
